8 Good habits that will weigh heavily on the scale of the day of judgment

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Take on only as much as you can do of good deeds, for the best of deeds is that which is done

consistently, even if it is little.”

Good deeds and acts of worship, if you continue to do them, your confidence in yourself will grow

and your relationship with Allah Almighty will grow.

There are good deeds that will weigh heavily on the scale of the day of judgment

1- Good manners useful in a day of judgment :

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The heaviest thing which will be put on the believer’s scale (on the

Day of Resurrection) will be good morals.”

2- Glorifying Allah Almighty useful in a day of judgment:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “(There are) two words which are dear to the Beneficent (Allah) and very light

(easy) for the tongue (to say), but very heavy in weight in the balance. They are: ”Subhan Allah Wa-

bihamdihi” and ”Subhan Allah Al-`Azim.”

3- Waking up early is useful on a day of judgment:

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “Allah made the early hours blessed for my Ummah.”

Your morning is the thing that sets the tone for the rest of the day, if you start off lazy, distracted,

and mindless then the rest of the day is gonna look like that. But if you start off focused with good

energy and consciousness with Allah سبحانه وتعالى then that gonna fill your day with light.

We need to reframe our priorities and bring gratitude into our day.

4- Dhikr Allah Almighty useful in the day of judgment:

Morning and evening Adhkar is daily protection from all evil. And Adhkar is the key to our spiritual

and mental health.

Remembering Allah by heart and mentioning Him on the tongue, allowing us to gain proximity to

Allah. We are accepting that we have no power without Him, and He has the ultimate Power. We

have moments of vulnerability and repentance when remembering Allah. We seek barakah and

protection from harm and Adhkar empowers us with courage, strength, and hope to encounter any

challenge or obstacle we might face throughout the day.

• One of the prophet’s morning Duas: “O Allah, whatever blessing I or any of Your creation have

risen upon, is from You alone, without a partner, so for You is all praise and unto You all thanks.”

• “We have reached the morning, and at this very time unto Allah belongs all sovereignty, Lord of

the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day, its triumphs, its victories, its light, its

blessings, and its guidance. And I take refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil that

follows it.”

• The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Purity is half of Iman (faith). ‘Al-hamdu lillah (all praise and

gratitude belong to Allah)’ fills the scales, and ‘Subhan-Allah (how far is Allah from every

imperfection) and ‘Al-hamdulillah (all praise and gratitude belong to Allah)’ fill that which is

between heaven and earth.”

5- Reading the Holy Quran:

The Holy Qur’an is the nourishment of your spiritual heart. Making the reading of the Holy Quran a

daily habit makes your Iman stronger and higher. If you have any disease of the heart; like

hypocrisy and hardness of the heart, you will notice that you are being cured by Quran after the

permission of Allah.

It takes time to build a habit but the spiritual experiences of learning the Quran cannot be explained

with words, you have to feel it by yourself.

The Holy Qur’an is guidance, cure for spiritual and physical diseases, a connection between you and

Allah سبحانه وتعالى (the Qur’an is the rope by which you hold on to Allah) and brings you closer to

Allah. It’s worth reading daily.

Technology has replaced books in modern life, and some consider books and reading outdated or

reserved for academia.

Actually, forming a daily reading habit expands your knowledge and help you on your journey to

success.

7- Eating healthy and fasting

“And eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess.” Surah Al-

a’raf: 31

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The human does not fill any container that is worse than his

stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat what will support his back. If this is not possible,

then a third for food, a third for drink, and third for his breath.”

In modern times we cook various dishes of meat, fish, and vegetables. And it was said that the

prophet (ﷺ) didn’t like to mix food, rather he preferred to keep his meals simple.

The prophet was eating whatever was available at the time.

It is part of Islam to eat Tayyib food. Food that is clean, fresh, and home-grown.

Allah says in Surah Al-Baqarah verse: 168

“O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps

of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.”

8- Fasting every Monday and Thursday is a Sunnah of the prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).

When we fast Mondays and Thursdays, we would earn a reward of reviving a Sunnah and we would

earn the mercy of Allah.

reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

“Allah, the Majestic, and the Exalted said: Every act of the son of Adam is for him except fasting. It

is done for My sake, and I will give a reward for it. By Allah in Whose Hand is the life of

Muhammad, the breath of the observer of fast is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk.”

The best type of fasting: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “The Salat which is dearest to Allah is that

of (Prophet) Dawud; and As-Saum (the fasting) which is dearest to Allah is that of (Prophet) Dawud.

He used to sleep half the night, get up to perform Salat for one-third of it, then sleep through the

remaining one-sixth of it, and he used to observe Saum on alternative days.”

O Allah, help us to remember You, to give You thanks,

and to perform Your worship in the best manner.
