How can you make your Hifz(memorization Quran) better?

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Such a person as recites the Quran and masters it by heart, will be with the

noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And such a person exerts himself to learn the Qur’an by heart,

and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward.”Sahih al-Bukhari 4937

The Noble Quran is the word of Allahعزوجل, so it needs us to pay close attention to remain steady in

the hearts like mountains. Also, the Quran is the first source of Islamic legislation.

This great Book consists of thirty parts,

in each part, we find the most wonderful words and secrets that guide Muslims to the right path in

this world reaching them to heaven Insha’Allah.

As a Hafiz (memorizer) of the Quran, we have to choose the appropriate method to master the

memorization. There is no doubt that planning is a very important method if we want anything in

life, and there is nothing greater than the Quran.

The Importance Of Revising The Holy Quran

We know very well that there are many Muslim men and women who yearn to memorize the Book

of God, but the Qur’an in order to memorize it by heart, you must revise it continuously until it

yields a result that satisfies Allahعزوجل.

Among the sayings that have been said about revising the Quran is the following:

Revising the Noble Qur’an plays a major role in keeping the memorized Surahs in the chest and not

forgetting it. Because the Holy Qur’an, like others, is prone to forget, especially when this is

accompanied by a lack of commitment and recitation,

it definitely sinks into oblivion!

1- The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Read the Qur’an regularly. By the One in Whose Hand Muhammad’s soul

is, it escapes from memory faster than a camel does from its tying ropes.”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

2- There are many benefits for a hafiz in Islam, and Allah عزوجل will reward countless blessings on

him in this world and the afterworld as well.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur’an and

teaches it.” [Al-Bukhari].
The only reason for doing Quran Hifz must be for pleasing Allahعزوجل and teaching Quran to others

only for the sake of Allah.

Memorizing The Quran is the best thing a Muslim can imagine for himself but forgetting it after is

definitely not what we look forward to. I remember once my hafiz friend could not remember a

verse while reciting Qira’at, and he felt embarrassed at that moment. It made him think of

dedicating more time to Quran revision and reciting. He began with 4-5 Juz’ a day to ensure not to

forget even a single verse in the future.

How can you make your Hifz better?

To revise your Hifz(memorization), you have to be completely sincere and truthful with yourself

because you only know which Surah needs more effort and time.

1- The first step towards rememorizing Quran in a way never to forget again is to have a revision

plan.

2- A Quran revision timetable: Prepare a Quran revision timetable in accordance with

the five Salahs.

Design the schedule as per your convenience and the need for revision offering a Surah.

Make sure to recite a different Surah in each Rak’ah of the Salah to revisit all of them. By the Quran

timetable revision method, you can quickly revise many surahs during the day.

3- Revise two or at least one Surah a day if you are too busy.

Revise and read two or more Surahs on weekends or any holiday. Keep a balance, pair Surahs

according to their lengths. For example, pair a long Surah with a short Surah, and don’t pair two

long Surahs together. This way, you will not have to burden yourself.

4- Revising by Juz is the most popular and easiest way of Quran revision.

Many people follow the practice of revising three Juz a day. They revise the first Juz after Fajr Salah,

second after Asr Salah, and third after Isha’ Salah. This way, they complete their Quran revision in

10 days. But if you are busy and can’t follow this practice, try revising two Juz a day and complete

your Quran revision in 15 days.

5- When you’ve memorized a certain Juz of the Quran or even half of a Juz, make a practice of

reading a particular number of pages or in Salah daily only from the memorized Juz. A

straightforward part can be revising meanwhile learning the next part. If you have memorized a Juz,

revisit four pages a day while still learning more parts of the Quran. By revising 4 pages a day, you

will complete your memorized Juz review in five days, and you can start revising it again from the

first page on the 6th day. This is one of the easiest and effective ways of revising memorized Quran.
