Memorizing the Quran and pondering its meanings always bring pleasure for souls,
As well as keeping away from it and preoccupation with worldly matters is a pain that tears the heart and disperses the soul.

Allaah says in Surah Az-Zukhruf (Ayah36):

“Whoever shuns the remembrance of the Most Gracious, We assign for him a devil, to be his companion.”

And the soul fluctuates between this love and that pain:

When you look at your life and see its attachment to the world, you feel the emptiness of your soul, it is far from the

Quran, and you feel lost in front of temptations, suspicions, and desires.

And when you recite the verses, and you take from their light what strengthens your heart and extinguishes the fires of temptation, you will find that your soul longs for more of its fragrance, to explode in your heart the fountains of fear, repentance, and regret.
The heart overflows with feelings of faith, and the soul quickly responds to the commands of the Most Merciful, so it is not shaken by the crashing waves, nor its light not extinguished by the fierce winds.

The soul yearns to memorize the Book of God:

The soul yearns for memorization every time you get up for prayer, wanting to stay in the hands of God reciting His verses, but you retract your decision when you find the memorized verses are little soul yearns.

1-  to memorize every time it desires to reflect on the verses and feel their meanings. To raise your spirit with it, but you have to wait until you have finished your duties in order to be able to hold your Quran

2- for memorization whenever you sit with your children to teach them about their religion, but you are unable to infer the appropriate verses for your topic. And dream about the day you finish memorizing the Qur’an.
But when you begin to turn that dream into reality, To be the beginning of forming a deep relationship with the Book of God Almighty, you will find yourself scattered, and you will encounter many obstacles on your way that hinder you from continuing to memorize.

And that time you are confused and wondering:

How did those who preceded me memorize the Quran :

despite their different ages?
and some of them do not speak Arabic?
from all over the world?
From here, you begin the journey of searching for the different ways of memorizing the Qur’an; perhaps you will find a way to help you achieve your dream!

With your many attempts, and moving from one method to another, you find other questions that come to your mind, which are:
Why haven’t I succeeded yet in memorizing the Quran despite my many attempts?
And how did:

Do all these people succeed in memorizing the Quran despite their different ways of memorizing it?

were they able to obtain stable and solid memorization, memorization that will last with them for life?
And here is the real pause, and the turning point in your journey with the Quran.
Memorization of the Quran is the project of a lifetime, and it is the true beginning of life; there is no life without living with the Quran.

Memorizing the Quran is a means of self-education and self-discipline before it is a means of forming a deep relationship that brings you closer to God Almighty, and in order for you to succeed in memorizing the Qur’an, you must realize some things, and train in some skills, including :

1- Be free of your power and strength, There is no power or strength but from God,

with a sincere intention of God Almighty; For the saying of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, about the first people to be consumed by the Fire on the Day of Resurrection: “Next a man who has acquired and taught knowledge and read the Quran will be brought forward, and after God has reminded him of the favor He showed him and the man acknowledges it, He will ask, ‘What did you do to show gratitude for it?’ The man will reply, ‘I acquired and taught knowledge and read the Quran for Thy sake.’ God will say, ‘You lie. You acquired knowledge that people might call you learned, and you read the Quran that they might call you a reader, and they have done so.’ Command will then be issued about him, and he will be dragged on his face and thrown into hell.”

And remember that no matter how clever you are and the strength of your memory, you will never reach the goal and you will not be successful in memorizing any verse except with the help of God, and groveling before Him in supplication.

2- Quranic companionship is of great importance in a person’s life in order to strengthen one’s worship.

God Almighty says on the tongue of Moses, peace be upon him Aaron, my brother Strengthen me with him. And have him share in my mission. That we may glorify You much. And remember You much. You are always watching over us.” ( [Taha: 30 – 34].

“The one who was devoted to the Quran will be told to recite, ascend and recite carefully as he recited carefully when he was in the world, for he will reach his abode when he comes to the last verse he recites.” Ahmad, Tirmidhī, Abū Dāwūd and Nasā’ī transmitted it.

4- You must realize that success requires a mixture of hard work, fatigue, patience, and diligence.

The Qur’an, which was revealed to our Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace over a period of 23 years, cannot be memorized in days or weeks.
So you have to be patient in memorizing, revision, reciting.

Likewise, patience in continuing to memorize and completing it with perfection, and resisting the nature of the human soul, hastens quick results; God Almighty says: “The human being prays for evil as he prays for good. The human being is very hasty.”

And remember that memorizing the Quran is not achieved by wishful thinking, but rather it must be diligent, and not giving up to the obstacles that will inevitably confront you; To scrutinize the truthful person who desires to memorize the Book of God

5- Not thinking in advance about failure; God Almighty says: “We made the Quran easy to learn. Is there anyone who would learn?”

Surah Al-Qamar17
May God Almighty make it easy for memorization, understanding, and contemplation.
With determination and insistence on achieving the goal, and not despairing, or regretting any shortcomings on the road, and the certainty that this is the path that you should walk and do not deviate from; the Messenger of God, peace, and blessings be upon him, said: “Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good.”

And in every good, strive for which benefits you, seek God’s help, and do not be incapacitated, and if something befalls you, do not say: Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any way, do not say: ‘If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such,’ but say only: ‘Allah so determined and did as He willed.’ The word ‘if’ opens the gates of satanic thoughts”.

I am certain that your toil, sacrifices, and efforts will not be wasted.
God Almighty says: “As for those who believe and lead a righteous life—we will not waste the reward of those who work righteousness.”

6- Clarity of the purpose of memorizing the Quran.

Your goal is not limited to the reward for memorizing the Quran only, this will be achieved by everyone who memorized the Quran purely to God Almighty, but you must have a goal of your own that pushes you to memorize and continue the path to the end.
Examples That the goal:
a- enjoy living with the Quran and seek to apply it in various aspects of your life.
b- is to honor the parents with the crown of dignity.
c-  is to be a role model for your children so that they follow you in memorizing the Qur’an.

7- Dividing the goal into several small goals, with a time plan to finish each of them, which helps you focus on that small goal.

And when you see your success and your achievement of small goals one by one, it will become a powerful motivator that pushes you to continue your journey to the end.
examples You can make each :
a-  surah a small goal that you strive to achieve.
b-  part into a small goal that you want to achieve.
c- half of the segment a weekly goal that you aim to achieve.
d- a quarter of a portion of a weekly goal that you aim to achieve).

8- Realizing that memorizing and revision are a way of life.

Make sure to make it a part of your daily routine, which you cannot give up.
So that you create for yourself a daily schedule that contains a new memorization word for every day, and a word to revise; To take care of what you have previously memorized, and another to repeat, that will bring you to the stage of mastery.

9- Flexibility in planning:

There is no doubt that we all go through emergency circumstances.

that force us to stay away from memorization for a while.
But the most important thing is not to make this a reason for slackening, frustration, or apathy. Rather, you should be flexible. If an emergency situation occurs that forces you to be preoccupied with sitting to memorize.

use your time to listen to the verses.

or revise and fixate by reciting the verses in secret in a faint voice that your ears can almost hear.
Trying to choose different times to memorize to suit changing circumstances.

10- Seeking forgiveness, repentance, and humiliation in the presence of God Almighty in the event of inability, error, or failure to memorize.

11- God Almighty says: And when your Lord proclaimed “If you give thanks, I will grant you increase; but if you are ungrateful, My punishment is severe. [Ibrahim: 7].

It is a clear promise from Allaah, Glory be to Him, to bless you with more. Do not forget to always thank Him for instilling in your heart the love for memorizing the Quran.
And do not forget to thank Him daily for helping you to memorize and read.
