Recommended times for reciting Quran
It is much in the narrative practice of the prophet * about Paying attention to reciting the Quran
during the month of Ramadan, and more so during its last ten days. Also included are the first ten
days of the month of Dhul Hijjah, the day of Arafa, Friday, after Dawn, and during the Night.
• Allah عزوجل Says in Surah Al-Isra:
“Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and
[also] the Quran recitation of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.”
• Abu Sa’id reported the Prophet as saying:
“If anyone recites Surah Al-Kahf (Quran, 18) on Friday, the light will shine brightly for him till the
next Friday.”
• ‘Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “There is no day on which Allah sets free more slaves from Hell
then He does on the Day of ‘Arafah.”
• Ibn ‘Abbas and Anas b. Malik reported Allah’s messenger as saying that “When is shaken” (Quran,
99) is equivalent to half the Quran, “Say, He is God, one” (Qur’an, 112) is equivalent to a third of the
Quran, and “Say, O infidels” (Qur’an, 109) is equivalent to a quarter of the Qur’an. Tirmidhi
transmitted it.
