Islamic Ethics

The Concept of Ethics in Islam

Ethics in Islam refers to a set of values and standards that Muslims must adhere to in their daily lives because they are organized for behavior, and defined by revelation, and these ethics are represented in integrity, honesty, honesty, justice, mercy, cooperation, tolerance, charity and fairness, and Islamic ethics are considered an integral part of faith, as faith and ethics are considered inseparable.

 

Ethics in Islam is based on the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and is characterized by comprehensiveness, pluralism, and detail, and it is of two characteristics, the first: divine (God’s will) and the second: human (human effort) and the ethics of Islam is an integrated system that combines theoretical presentation and practical approach.

 

Characteristics of Islamic Ethics

Islamic ethics is characterized by several characteristics, including:

 

1- Inclusiveness

They encompass all aspects of human life, whether personal, community, economic, or political.

 

2- Pluralism

It contains a set of diverse values and standards that suit every time, place and circumstance of life.

 

3- Detailed

They contain precise and detailed details of correct human behavior and encompass every aspect of life.

 

4- Authenticity

Islamic ethics is based on religious sources rooted in Islam, such as the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, and is considered distinct in that it stems from divine sources and reflects the will of God Almighty.

 

5- Process

It encourages good deeds and sincere worship and urges the effective application of moral values and standards in everyday life.

 

6. Liability

It pushes a person to be responsible for his actions, words, and behaviors and refuses to make him dependent or cast what he issued on the shoulders of others, whether the responsibility is individual or collective.

 

Allah Almighty says: {Every person with what he earns is a pawn} [At-Tur: 21] And the Almighty says: {And whoever earns a sin, he earns it on himself} [An-Nisa: 111] And he says: {The hearing, sight, and heart, all those were responsible for him}[Al-Isra’a: 36] 

 

7- Divine

That is, it has nothing to do with man, and the diversity of human opinions about it is not allowed, as it comes from the Qur’an and Sunnah, and therefore the characteristic of survival, honesty, and health is attached to it.

 

8- Integrity

It encourages righteousness and steadfastness in truth and rightness and warns against deviation and deviation from the right path.

 

9- Mercy

It encourages empathy and compassion for others and urges forgiveness, forgiveness, and forgiveness.

 

Types of Creation in Islam

Creation in Islam is of two types: one is good, the other is ugly, and this is a statement of them:

 

1- Good manners

It is the creation resulting from what the Sharia commanded, and forbidden, and it means literature and virtue, and what corresponds to reason and Sharia in terms of good words or beautiful deeds, it is a good creation.

 

2- Bad manners

It is the creation resulting from a reprehensible saying or an ugly act that does not agree with reason or Sharia, and it means vice or bad manners.

 

The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If I love you to me and bring you closer to me on the Day of Resurrection, I will improve your morals” [Narrated by al-Tarmzi] Whoever wants to win the love of the Prophet of Allah and gain closeness to him on the Day of Resurrection, he must be of good morals and good manners.

 

Virtues of good morals

Among the virtues of good Islamic Ethics are:

 

  • Compliance with the command of Allah and His Messenger.
  • A reason to gain love and closeness.
  • Increase the reward and reward.
  • of the perfection of faith.
  • One of the reasons for entering Paradise.

 

What ethics does Islam encourage?

In the following points, reference can be made to the morals urged by Islam for Muslims to possess, and among the morals of the Muslim:

 

1- Honesty

A Muslim is keen on honesty in dealing with others and avoids lying, cheating, and deception. An example of this is keeping promises and covenants, and telling the truth even if it is self-harmful.

 

2- Justice

Muslims are keen on justice and equality in dealings, preserving people’s rights, and avoiding injustice and discrimination. An example is the equal treatment of people, regardless of religion, race, color, or nationality.

 

3- Mercy

A Muslim has compassion and empathy for others and seeks to alleviate their suffering and help them in difficult situations. Examples include helping the poor, needy, sick, and needy, and contributing to various charitable and humanitarian work.

 

4- Charity

A Muslim is keen to do good and charity to others and seeks to make people happy and achieve the public benefit. Examples include advising and guiding others, making children and the elderly happy, respecting animal rights, and helping and assisting in various matters.

 

5- Tolerance

A Muslim is tolerant and forgiving mistakes and mistakes and seeks to resolve differences in a peaceful and constructive manner. Examples include forgiveness, forgiveness for personal mistakes, turning to good and right, and coexisting peacefully and cordially with others regardless of individual differences.

 

6- Modesty

A Muslim is modest and sophisticated in dealing with others and avoids bad and indecent behaviors. Examples include maintaining decent dress and avoiding obscene behaviors and offending others with words or actions.

 

7- Moderation

A Muslim is moderate in everything and avoids extremism and exaggeration in religion, ideas, or behaviors. An example of this is avoiding extreme emotions, and dealing wisely and moderately in all matters.

 

8- Altruism

A Muslim is altruistic and sacrificing for others, and is keen to provide help and support when needed. Examples include providing assistance to neighbors, relatives, and the needy, giving zakat, charity, and donations to the poor and needy, and hard work and perseverance to benefit society.

 

Prophetic hadiths about ethics

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “It is your choice that you will be morally better” [agreed].

“Whoever loves you to me is the best of your morals” [Bukhari].

“The believers are the most perfect in faith, the best of them, and your choice: your choice for their wives is morality” [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi and Hasan Sahih].

“Every religion has a creation, and Islam creates modesty” [Hasan narrated by Ibn Majah].

“The believer may realize by his good character the degree of fasting that exists” [Saheeh: Narrated by Abu Dawood].

“Whoever completes the faith of the believers is the best of them and the kindest of them to his family” [Narrated and improved by al-Tirmidhi].

“There is nothing [heavier in the balance of the believer on the Day of Resurrection than Hassan’s creation, and Allah hates the obscene and obscene” Narrated by Abu Dawood and Tirmidhi, and Hasan Sahih said].

“Those who love you to me and bring you closer to me in a council on the Day of Resurrection: I will make you morally better, and if I hate you to me and drive you away from me in a council on the Day of Resurrection, the chatterers, the ranters and the inveterates, they said: O Messenger of Allah, what are the innovators? He said: “The arrogant” [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi and improved by the investigator of Jami’ al-Usul with his evidence].

Morals of the Prophet

The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Your best is your best for his family, and I am your best for my family.” [Saheeh, narrated by: Abdullah bin Abbas]

‘Aisha, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her), reported in describing the Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him): “His creation was the Qur’an.” [True, graduation of the problem of antiquities]

‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: “The Messenger of Allah was neither obscene nor obscene, nor noisy in the markets, nor rewarded with bad things, but pardoned and forgiven.” [True, graduation of the Musnad for Shuaib]

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “I served the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) for ten years in Madinah, and I am a boy, not all my command is as my companion desires me to be. [Sahih Abi Dawood]

It was narrated that al-Bara’a ibn ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was: The best of people in the face and the best of manners, not long or short.” [Sahih Bukhari]

How to teach children manners?

Teaching morals to children requires a lot of patience, dedication, and training, and it is important to start teaching children morals early in their lives, because children learn quickly and absorb information easily, and these are some of the methods that can be used to teach children morals:

 

1- The living model

We must be a living models for children in our behavior and actions. They learn by watching and imitating us, so we must set a good example for them.

 

2- Praise and motivation

We must encourage children to behave well and praise them when they do positive and ethical actions. Simple rewards and incentives such as praising their small achievements can be used to encourage them.

 

3- Social interaction

We must help children interact with others and learn social communication skills. Educational games and interactive activities can be used to encourage children to deal positively with different situations.

 

4- Dialogue and communication

We should talk to children openly and simply about important moral values and principles, and distinguish them from the right behaviors, and the consequences. Real-life examples and stories can be used to illustrate ideas in a more clear way.

 

5- Positive Education

We should focus on positive education rather than punishment, by encouraging children to behave exemplary and providing guidance and guidance to improve their behavior.

 

6- Religious education

Religious teachings can be used to teach children morality, by teaching them important moral values and principles in the Islamic religion, by using stories and examples from religious teachings to illustrate ideas in an inspiring and stimulating way.

 

7- Academic education

Curricula and textbooks can be used to teach children morals and values. Ethical topics can be included in lessons and curricula to enhance children’s learning.

 

8- Guidance and supervision
