The Ten Qira’at of the Quran is an advanced specialized program designed for students who already have a strong foundation in Quranic recitation, Tajweed, and Quranic studies. The course introduces students to the authentic canonical Quranic readings, their Imams and transmitters, their principles of recitation, and the practical differences between the readings. Students gradually develop the ability to recognize, study, and apply the principles and variations of the Ten Qira’at under qualified scholarly supervision.

What You Will Learn

  • Understand the concept and importance of the canonical Qira’at.
  • Identify the Ten Imams of Qira’at and their principal transmitters.
  • Understand the historical development and transmission of the Qira’at.
  • Distinguish between the major principles of the different readings.
  • Study the Usul of the Ten Qira’at.
  • Understand selected Farsh al-Huruf and their applications.
  • Recognize differences in pronunciation, wording, and recitation between the canonical readings.
  • Apply studied Qira’at rules during practical Quran recitation.
  • Compare selected readings accurately.
  • Develop advanced skills in Quranic recitation and analysis.
  • Identify common mistakes when transitioning between Qira’at.

Prerequisites

  • Have strong Quran reading and recitation skills.
  • Have advanced knowledge of Tajweed.
  • Have a solid understanding of Makharij and Sifat al-Huruf.
  • Be able to recite the Quran accurately and fluently.
  • Have substantial experience in Quran memorization and revision.
  • Ideally have completed an advanced Tajweed program before beginning the Ten Qira’at.
  • Be prepared for intensive theoretical study and practical recitation.
  • For students pursuing formal Ijaza in the Ten Qira’at, additional prerequisites may apply depending on the specific Qira’at, Riwayah, pathway, and qualified instructor.

Certificate

  • Students who successfully complete the academic requirements and final assessment receive:
  • Certificate of Completion – The Ten Qira’at of the Quran
  • The certificate confirms completion of the academy's educational program.

A free trial lesson is available to assess the student’s Quran reading and recitation level, meet the teacher, and develop an initial learning plan tailored to the student’s needs.

Important: Completion of this course does not automatically constitute an Ijaza in the Ten Qira’at. Formal Ijaza requires fulfillment of specific requirements and authorization from a qualified teacher who is authorized to grant the relevant Ijaza.
