The benefits of memorizing the Holly Quran is enormous that every Muslim should aim to be among the Huffaz. The memorizers of the Quran will be with the prophets in Jannat ul Firdaus, which is the highest place in paradise and the center of Jannah. What made them reach this elevated position is that they learn the Quran with the heart because the heart is the center of knowledge as Allah said in the following verse:
“Have they not traveled in the land so that they should have hearts with which to understand, or ears with which to hear? For surely, it is not the eyes that are blind, but blind are the hearts which are in the breasts.” Surah Al-Hajj Verse 46
The above verse clearly shows that learning should be with the heart and not just reciting it with the tongue. You are learning the Quran with the heart when you’re memorizing with a Quran teacher or an Academy. These people will quickly identify your mistakes because they have also passed through the stages of learning from another person. But if you think that learning the Qur’an alone will work for you, it won’t, and if it works, you will not memorize correctly.
The mode of learning the Qur’an requires great perseverance
Because if you want to learn the Holy Quran in the same way it was revealed to the Prophet (SAW), you will persevere a lot. The majority of the companions also learned the Quran from the Prophet just as the Prophet learn the Qur’an from angel Jibril.
The following verses show that the Prophet learned the Qur’an from his teacher, who is Jibril.
“And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. The faithful spirit has descended with it, upon your heart that you may be among the warners” Surah Ash-Shuara 192-194.
Even if the messenger of Allah (SWT) can learn from Angel Jibril, then who are we to not inculcate the habits of the noble Prophet (SWT).
The Prophet recommended four companions for anyone who wants to learn the Quran. The four companions are Abdullah bn Mas’ud, Muadh bn Jabal, Ubayy bn Ka’ab, and Salim, the ally of Abu Hudhaifa.
These companions are the ones that teach the majority of other companions
It reached a stage that some of the companions are students to Ubayy bn Ka’ab. Many Hadiths show the benefits of teaching the Quran, which implies that memorizing the Quran requires you to have a teacher who has also learned the Quran from his teacher.
“No group of people gather In one of the houses (mosques) of Allah (SWT) reciting the book of Allah (SWT) and studying it amongst themselves, except that tranquility will descend upon them, mercy will cover them, the angels will surround them, and Allah (SWT) will mention them to those with him.”
The above Hadith shows the benefits of gathering to learn the Quran and why it is essential to learn from a teacher or better still from an Academy.
“The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others.”
Being an Haafiz is rewarding, yet it requires you to follow the right steps. Therefore, the best way to learn the Qur’an is from a teacher or an Academy. I ask Allah (SWT) to ease all our affairs.
