There are 114 Surahs of the Quran and each of them is full of divine injunctions and blessings. All
are important for imparting either affirmative or prohibitive lessons or bestowing countless
blessings. However, there are certain Surahs that carry special significance to be recited and
memorize according to the Sunnah of the Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) and the practice of pious companions of Muhammad (PBUH). These are:
Surah Al-Fatiha
Surah Al-Fatiha is an opening Surah, the gateway of the Quran, and most repeatedly recited Surah.
It is the Surah to be mandatorily recited in five fardh (obligatory) prayers. This Surah praises
Almighty Allah and thus, it has the status of Ibadah (worship).
• Surah Al-Kahf is another Surah of the Quran which has very promising rewards. Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) said that one who recites Surah Al-Kahf every Friday, his sins between two
Fridays would be forgiven, and memorizing the first ten Ayahs of this Surah would save him from
the insurgency of Dajjal.
Surah Yaseen
Surah Yaseen is regarded as the heart of the Quran as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, everything
has a heart and the heart of the Quran is Surah Yaseen. According to a Hadith, reciting Surah
Yaseen for a single time would reward ten times more than that of reciting the whole Quran. This
Surah, if memorized, would never let a person go astray.
Three Qul
Three Qul comprises three Surahs of Quran starting with the word, “Qul” which means “say”. These
are Surah Ikhlas, Surah Falak, Surah Nas and Surah Kafiroon. These are the Surahs in which Allah
has addressed the people.
Collectively, these Surahs are reciting for the deliverance of a deceased. Also, these Surahs are
recited before sleeping inviting Allah’s special protection.
Reciting Surah Ikhlas would provide a person with an angel who would protect him from calamities.
It comprises basic ingredients of faith and the oneness of Allah. Reciting Surah Ikhlas once would
give a reward of reciting one-third of the Quran. Recitation and memorization of Surah Nas shield a
person against Satin, Jinns, and magic.
Surah Rahman
Surah Rahman is regarded as the beauty of the Quran and its recitation and memorization cure a
person of all various problems and diseases. It purifies the heart of a person who recites and
memorizes it from all envoys, worries, evils, and jealousies. It improves mental health as well.
reminds a man how merciful Allah is. is the Surah which describes the various blessings of Allah
upon human beings thus, demanding his gratitude towards Allah.
Ayat ul Kursi
Ayat ul Kursi (Surah Al Baqra) comprises one of the most recited Ayahs of the Holy Quran which
have the status of verbal prayer or worship as these Ayahs praise the Mighty Allah. These Ayahs
should be read every time when a person needs Allah’s help in especial. Its protects human from
catastrophes.
Surah al Mulk
Surah al Mulk if recited before sleeping, Allah sends an angel to protect a person from any harm. It
is the Surah which ensures a person’s forgiveness and Allah’s mercy upon him.
All the Surahs of the Quran are important, and their recitation showers solace to the perturbed souls
of mankind. These aforementioned Surahs are of especial significance because of their relevance to
a situation, human requirement, and circumstances in which these Surahs revealed to the Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH). Thus, being a Muslim, it is highly imperative and rewarding to memorize
these Surahs of the Quran.
